STREAM RECORDING - shifting fundamentals
Assignment Week 2:
- record one short video of one passage where you apply a "Guide Finger Shift" and a "Target Finger Shift", each!
- alternatively record a video of individualized Yost Style shifting practive
- eg. variations in starting and target positions
- different keys
- on different strings, etc

I worked on the shifting exercises and noticed having a nice hand position helps with intonation otherwise I鈥檓 guessing where to put my 4th finger. I may still post a video but it wasn鈥檛 very quiet at my house lol.

I noticed today in my practicing the orchestra music the my shifting has been rather reckless. With the Yost exercises I can see where I can become more deliberate and thoughtful when I鈥檓 shifting. I鈥檓 also not jumping to the shift rather I鈥檓 gliding. Thanks for the lesson so far.

This is the week 1 video showing the different shifts to third position. I was surprised at how much my wrist is changing position in and out.

And this is the week 2 video. It is Schumann Fairy Tales (Marchenbilder) 1st movement, beginning to maybe letter B. I made a few different recordings of it and then found it difficult to choose one though they all sounded fairly similar.
