I have only started playing the viola last year and after reading a lot of reviews I decided to get a set of Larsen Original and liked them a lot. I still found it challenging to get the edge off the A string sound (I was using a Medium gauge- I am a violinist, so the shrill A string of the viola always disturbs me!!). My next set I changed to Larsen Virtuoso with a soft A String and my viola was transformed on all the strings!
I know many players mix strings from different brands, but I am not playing and especially performing enough to experiment at this stage and am now very satisfied with my Larsen Virtuoso strings.
