Welcome to the tonebase Viola Community!
Hey everyone - this is Martin from tonebase!
As the Head of Live and Community here on tonebase, it's such a pleasure to welcome you to the tonebase community. We would love to get to know you! Please introduce yourself in a post below with the following format:
- Where are you from and what's your favorite food from there? ;)
- What are you currently working on?
- What are you hoping to get out of this community?
I鈥檒l go first:
- I was born and raised in Munich, Germany! As you鈥檇 expect, Bavarian cuisine is heavy and includes many meat and Kn枚del dishes, as well as crops such as beets and potatoes! While this food makes me think back to my childhood, I prefer much more food from my current hometown D眉sseldorf, where we have the biggest Japanese community outside of Japan. So D眉sseldorf has no shortage of great Ramen shops, Sushi places, and even Teppanyaki grill houses!
- When it comes to viola, I am clueless! I have studied classical guitar and sound engineering. Currently, I am in the process of recording a new album with my guitar duo, "TwoFourTwelve". Although my father is a passionate viola player, but he recently bought my niece a violin. I am excited to see her grow as a person with music by her side!
- I hope to get to know and help all of you achieve your musical and artistic goals. Let's have some fun and get to work.

Hello everyone and welcome to the tonebase Viola community!
My name is Christian Kim, I am the lead of Violin and Viola, here at tonebase!
We are so so excited to finally have Viola on tonebase and can not wait to meet all of you here and go on this journey together!- My life evolved around three countries as home bases, US (born), Germany (raised) and South Korea, with Seoul as my home base for 8 years, until recently! Food.. I mean who doesn't like some Korean BBQ with a huge assortment of side dishes? :D
- Currently (and always) are we working on bringing our tonebase community amazing courses with some phenomenal artists from around the world, so there will be lots to share over the coming weeks and months!
- I am looking forward to the community, interesting discussions, finding inspiration, growth and positivity together with all of you!

Hi
My name is Sonia. I鈥檓 from the UK but have lived in Australia for the last 12 years. I was also lucky enough to spend 2 years in India. I like spicy food! But also love Japanese.
I鈥檓 an enthusiastic amateur and I converted to viola from violin just over 3 years ago and am working on consolidating the basics as well as my performance skills.
Living in a regional area in Australia it鈥檚 often difficult to get high level tuition in viola so I鈥檓 hoping Tonebase can help bridge that gap.

rimasta sempre, in modi diversi,

My name is Laura. I live in the Western United States. Cheeseburgers were supposedly invented here and I do like them. Rocky Mountain Oysters are also a local food but I have never eaten them. I am not an adventurous eater. Actually it is Palisade peaches, Rocky Ford cantaloupe and Olathe corn time and those are yummy..
I am not working on any specific piece but am working on improving my playing and confidence. I am excited for the various courses and to hang out with violists!

Hello everyone!
I am Alina, from Romania. Where I live now, in Sibiu, which is a beautiful saxon city, is not where I am from. I live here since 2008 because of the orchestra that I play in. However, I am from the heart of Transylvania, from Klausenburg, a very nice city, with a vibrant life and a very good music academy.
I did my studies here in Klausenburg and my masters degree in the US.
The food in Transylvania has influences from the Hungarian cuisine and also German. But regarding the food I enjoy the most I have to say that Italian is my favourite.
I don't think I am wrong to state that on top of the list as the favourite food would be the sausages called "mici".
I am so grateful that the idea to bring the best viola players in one place like this and share it with the world is available to me as well.
I know for sure that I will absorb everything with lots of enthuziasm.
All the best!

Hi, my name is Melissa. I live on the Sunshine Coast, Queensland Australia. I spent 18 years in Broome, Western Australia, one of the most remote cities on the planet. I was the only classical music player there so really missed learning and sharing music (wish I had Tonebase then!).
Moving to QLD has been great for me as I now play with the local symphony orchestra. I鈥檓 absolutely loving getting back into playing properly again. I recently bought myself a new viola and am really inspired to improve my playing. I am currently working on the Bruch Romanze for viola and am looking forward to delving into what Tonebase offer.
I鈥檝e traveled a fair bit overseas and my favourite styles of foods (plural) are Japanese, Vietnamese and Greek food. -
- I am from Spain but I am currently living in Ecuador. I love the soups here! We are very very elevated in the Andes, so food is very hearty! Potato and cheese locro soup, quinua soup, fanesca soup (all the pulses you can image go in it)
- I am currently working on Stamitz and I love playing Bach... but I haven't really commited to practice each.
- Commitment and improvement of my skills and my playing! At some point I had a really good level after I graduated from conservatoire and I played and toured but now that I am in Ecuador and as a working mom, it is more difficult to access musical education.
