Practice 2 octave scales. 3 octave c scale. I鈥檓 learning the C melodic minor and harmonic scale. Bach suite 1 courante. Focused on feeling the first beat, moving through the next 2 beats. Noticed my string crossing needs to have better sound. Better Intonation needed. Watched a video here on detache and used those principles for Kreutzer 5. Did 3 beats at 63 frog middle tip. It was fun and great video. I鈥檒l get some orchestra music Thursday so I鈥檒l be busy soon.

9/9/24 Kreutzer 5 using different rhythms and different bow placements. Vibrato practice. Kreutzer 2 using rhythm 7. Used the metronome. Then Bach suite 1 courante. Sounds better than yesterday! Trilling doesn鈥檛 come naturally. I need a good practice for that. Tuned and moved on to double stops Hoffman 4 and a little of 5. Tried paying attention to dynamics and bow placement along with tone! That鈥檚 it.

I wasn鈥檛 able to practice yesterday as I was celebrating my anniversary and then looking for a lost phone and watching THE debate but today I worked on my scales which were c and e 3 octave, whole tone c scale, c harmonic and c melodic. Did Some 2 octave scales. I focused on bowing and intonation and being over the fingerboard more in the upper position and also preparing for the next note. Also played Bach 1 courante and felt how some of the notes are more decoration whereas before I would play them as too single.

Yesterday was rehearsal for Sylvania community orchestra. Got new music. Today I did a few scales before my lesson. Went through orchestra music. During my scales I was reminded about playing more evenly. An exercise he gave me was to increase my bow weight as I move to the tip and decrease back to the frog. I was then able to see how I can control this in my scales. Later I practiced my scales again and played some orchestra music and the Bach 1 courante.

Practice today included scales. I did c 3 octave and then some 2 octaves. Rhythms, metronome. Paid attention to hand position and string crossings and bowing. Got out the Carl Flesch and did some e maj work and chromatic scales and arpeggios. Did a little Bach suite 1 courante. Started working through the massenet opus 13 1 and 4. Listened to it on you tube. Felt good skipping a lazy evening watching tv.

It鈥檚 really been a while since I practiced but I finally did today. Worked on c and d 3 octave scales and arpeggios. I reviewed some of the scale practice videos to keep some things in mind (relax, good tone, in tune, not too much left hand pressure). Did some orchestra music practice. Some of the fingerings my teacher put in will be great but I鈥檓 not used to playing those notes in 2nd position and moving between positions quite a bit. I鈥檓 learning though. Got invited to play the Perrysburg symphony concert! I鈥檓 so excited. The music will be challenging. So I鈥檒l have 2 concerts in November.

Worked primarily on the Mendelssohn symphony 4 mov 2. That is the only movement we are doing for the Sylvania orchestra. I鈥檓 excited though because it鈥檚 such a beautiful movement. Listening to the London symphony play it is so lovely. Practiced scales and shifting using some techniques I learned in the tonebase left hand video. That鈥檚 really helping. 馃挏

Practiced c and d scales. Really noticed hand position, string crossing issues and shifting. Did some rhythms with them. Metronome at 60 slurring triplets and 16ths. C melodic minor and harmonic scales. I need to show my teacher I鈥檝e been working on them. Went to Bach suite 1 courante next. Played at 78 fairly comfortably. Need to think more about what the music is telling me. Next I practiced the Mendelssohn 4 symphony 2 mov Getting more comfortable. Practiced a little of a couple other pieces. I need to do some double stop etudes and some kreutzer etudes I think. Watching a video on bridging epochs and instruments from tonebase today.

We had orchestra practice Thursday so now I know more what I need to work on. Friday I had a wonderful lesson. My teacher helped with my scales and bowing and with my playing of the Mendelssohn 4-2nd movement. Helping me to use some fingerings that bring out some beautiful colors (along with bowings of course). He assigned Kreutzer 15 to help with trills. Yay? lol tonight I鈥檓 going to the Toledo Symphony to hear Beethoven鈥檚 9th. I鈥檓 blessed to be in such a musical community.

Beethoven鈥檚 9th was so amazing and the pretalk was so informative. Practice today consisted of c and d paying attention to tuning, string crossings, hand position and shifts. Did some metronome work. Then I practiced the Mendelssohn and some double stops briefly.

I missed logging a practice and a rehearsal. Today is 10/5/24. Worked on d major, c major and some variations and used the metronome, rhythms. Paying attention to intonation, sound, shifting and really trying to memorize them in a natural comfortable way. When I think of them I want my fingers to know the finger patterns all the way up and down. Working on the Bach 1 courante and paying attention to bow choreography and phrasing. Working on the Massanet realizing that the 16ths are going to need some strategic downbows to feel comfortable with the speed and rhythm. I鈥檒l need to continue this tomorrow. Also worked on the Mendelssohn 2mov

Haven鈥檛 logged all my practices. I鈥檒l start up again today. Worked on the Yost shifting exercises. E flat major scale and arpeggios. Rhythms, metronome. Worked through the Kodaly Dances Galanta The Finlandia and some Bach. Practiced over 2 hrs.

Practiced a long while again today. Rossini mostly and some Brahms. Double stops. Yost shifting. Bach 1 courante. Felt like I was sounding somewhat better
